# Creating Pop-up Messages

In [Personalization Studio](/products/marketing-cloud/personalization-studio), pop-ups (in-browser messaging) are messages displayed over selected pages. Add a pop-up to a campaign to deliver a non-urgent promotion, announcement, or onboarding message to visitors.

Release Preview (Beta)
Pop-up messaging in Personalization Studio is in Release Preview (Beta). Features and implementation details may change before general availability.

## Before You Begin

- The Pop-up feature must be enabled for your Personalization Studio account.
- Real-Time Personalization 2.0 must be enabled for campaigns.

## Enable Pop-ups on a Page

1. Open the **Pages** tab.
2. Create a page or edit an existing page.
3. Turn on **Enable Pop-ups** for the page.

After you turn on **Enable Pop-ups**, the page's Pop-up spot is available under the **Content** tab in the campaign's **Creative Assets** step. If you don't see **Enable Pop-ups**, the feature may not be enabled for your account.

## Add a Pop-up to a Campaign

1. Create a campaign.
2. Enter the campaign details during **Campaign Setup**.
3. In **Events & Audiences**, choose the trigger event and audience for the campaign.
4. Open **Creative Assets** and select the **Content** tab.
5. Select the page where you enabled Pop-ups.
6. Select the Pop-up spot for the page.

## Design the Pop-up

Use the Personalization Studio drag-and-drop editor to add and arrange Pop-up content. The Content tab includes these column layouts and content types:

- Column layouts: **1 column**, **2 columns**, **3 columns**, and **2 columns (3/7)**
- Static text and headlines
- Links
- Buttons
- Images

Configure a button to navigate to a URL or close the Pop-up.

### Set Placement and Dimensions

In the **Settings** panel, choose a position: **Center**, **Top-left**, **Top-center**, **Top-right**, **Bottom-left**, **Bottom-center**, or **Bottom-right**. To keep the Pop-up in the same viewport position while the visitor scrolls, enable **Position fixed on scroll**. Use the **Styles** panel to edit the Pop-up's dimensions and spacing.

New Pop-ups use these editable defaults:

| **Setting** | **Default** |
| --- | --- |
| Desktop maximum width | 600 px |
| Mobile maximum width | 300 px when the viewport width is 620 px or less |
| Background padding | 0 px |
| Border radius | 8 px |

### Set How Visitors Can Close the Pop-up

In the **Settings** panel, enable or disable the close icon and choose its color when enabled. You can also enable dismissal by clicking outside the Pop-up. Keep at least one close method enabled before launching the campaign.

## Preview, Launch, and Verify

1. Select **Preview**.
2. Check the Pop-up in **Desktop**, **Tablet**, and **Mobile** views.
3. Launch the campaign.
4. Allow about 10 minutes for the campaign update to take effect.
5. Visit the selected page as a visitor who matches the campaign's trigger event and audience.
6. Confirm that the Pop-up appears.
7. Check its text, images, links, buttons, and enabled close method.

Campaign tracking includes impressions (messages sent) and clicks.
