# Creating Stage Rules for Batch Journey

After you create a journey with its stages, you can set up the rules for each journey stage.

* The first stage of your journey must include a milestone and entry criteria.
* Entry into subsequence stages requires that the profile satisfies a journey milestone or exit criteria.


1. Navigate to Audience Studio.
2. Select a Parent Segment.
3. Select a journey.
4. Select **Open Journey**.


The Journey builder opens.

1. (Optional) Set a journey goal.

If you select a batch journey version as a goal, you will select the latest version of the batch journey.

1. (Required) Set a milestone.


You won't see a milestone option if your journey only contains one stage.

1. Enter the rule for your milestone.

1. (Required) Set entry criteria.

1. (Optional) Set Exit criteria.

If you select a batch journey version as the exit criteria, you will select the latest version of the batch journey.
